Biography:

I studied Natural Sciences at Cambridge, and went on to join Jim Staunton's group in the Department of Chemistry for my PhD.  This is where my passion for Nuclear Magnetic Resonance was kindled.  I was fortunate to join Laurie Hall's in vivo NMR lab 1986.  Joining the Wolfson Brain imaging Centre full time in 2000,  although I had been involved in the WBIC since its inception.

Research Interests

My interests have always been on the hardware side of instrumentation,  and how that instrumentation can be used to answer biological questions.  Currently we are looking forward to the installation of a 7T scanner and a PET/MR scanner, and I am particularly interested in adapting conventional "NMR" experiments for use in humans on the 7T.  Most recently my group had developed and built a pre-clinical PET/MR scanner,  and we look forward to translating our findings on the research machine into human clinical research.
